Vote for my Lil' Brother!

Juan, my lil' brother, plays the flute in the school orchestra. Earlier this year my dad attended one of my brothers' school concert. Because of the nature of his job he rarely gets to attend school functions (including graduation) thus he was really excited and enthusiastic about it. After watching he made a remark/request that my brother should also perform and sing in the concert aside from playing his flute. We as a family enjoy music, and have bonding karaoke sessions for fun. My brother can carry a few tunes but he lacks something... so I encouraged him to enroll at Center for Pop Music Philippines(CPMP), just for fun and as a summer activity.

After finishing level one at CPMP, he surprised everybody during his recital. He was confident on stage and his voice was like "WOW" I just can't believe that he has improved a lot. While some of his peers forgot steps, lyrics of the song he just glided smoothly thru the recital.

A few weeks after the recital, Mama sent an email about an upcoming singing contest sponsored by FAME and Smart Link . We all encouraged him to join or at least audition for the contest, wala namang mawawala kung i-try niya. To make the long story short, Juan passed the auditions and my dads' request "to see my brother perform on stage" is finally within reach. The grand finals would be held at CCPs' Aliw theater on 09 November 2006 hosted by Paolo Bediones and Ruffa mae Quinto.

The contest has a "texters choice catergory" though I'm known for being a very lazy texter, I prefer calls than text, I'll make an exemption and vote for my brother.

Checklist and Mojofly

A big chunk of my money goes to my music/movie collection. Way back I used to buy items in a snap then later on regret acquiring some of them, a bad habit that I had to correct. That's why I've developed a checklist that I run thru before I make any purchase. I'd jot down all of the albums and dvds that i like, checkout the internet just see if some of my favorite artists released a special edition/new/the best of album. The checklist helps me discern the items that are "purchase worthy" from the "impulse-spur-of-the-moment".

I purchase cds and dvds based on these terms:
a. I'm a huge fan of the artist/movie.
b. I buy them during SM malls' 3-day sale since they give out 10% discount on all of their CD and or DVDs regardless if it's a new release or not. Discount counts especially with the bulk of items I purchase.
c. I wait until they release a repackaged version of an album. A big draw back is that it would require a waiting period of not less than a year before they release these kinds of album. The wait is worth while since I get more value for my peso when they throw out a couple of rare/live/unplugged tracks and some repackages even include music videos.

In line with my entry, I recently got a copy of Mojoflys' Now Album and I'm very happy with my copy. The 2-disc package marries the original ‘05 full-length and an A-VCD featuring live tracks from their first major concert at the Music Museum (September, 2005) and the 3D-animated music video of Tumatakbo. For those who haven't heard of Mojofly, check out my side bar under "Soundtrack" It's one of my favorite tracks in the album entitled "Mata". Lougees' rich voice paired with the Cello, simply amazing. She's the best thing that happened to Mojofly, she's written a number of songs (all of them are my favorite tracks) in the album.
