t-na , you're Hiro Nakamura
Such a dreamer! Even when you're stuck in a rut, you still reach for the stars. Happy-go-lucky and trusting you may be, but silly you're not — you've definitely got a practical side. And no matter what the future holds for you, we know you'll have fun along the way!
Which Hero Are You?

The Great Bubba BhaerThe night before the party wasn't exactly smooth as I expected, Bubba my puppy recently undergone an operation on his intestines. I couldn't bare sleeping early I was comforting him, showered him with kisses and we prayed together as I hold his small paw. Despite his operation he was still trying to walk and even wagged his tail as he instantly recognize my voice but he wasn't eating that much. Eventually my eyes gave up on me and I slept around 5:00 am. I woke up around 10:00 am, we cleaned his sutures and again prayed together. I asked God that His will be done, that if Bubba will just suffer in the long run even if he survived this, although it's hard for me to even conceive the idea, it is better for him to be with You there in heaven free of pain and suffering. Around 12 noon, The Great Bubba Bhaer passed away.
Surprises within the PartyLast Friday was my moms' 50th birthday, we can't have a party on that day since it falls on a Good Friday. My siblings requested that I cook fettuccine with mushroom and cheese sauce and Labahita fillet with fresh salsa and sour cream. All of the malls and bakeshops were closed which only meant, no birthday cake for mama. The day ended as if it was just another ordinary day. I was so busy (organizing the party) we didn't even buy her flowers or gave her any gift, I just gave her a kiss and greeted her. Tragic isn't it?
My mom doesn't know that I have planned a surprise birthday party for her on Easter Sunday. I've been brewing up this surprise birthday party ever since last year. This was one of the major reasons that i decided not to post some entries for the past few months just to make sure that she wouldn't get any clue.
Holy week was supposed to be time spent for reflection and relaxation but with the party coming up I was so preoccupied with organizing and making sure everything turned out okay. I didn't get much sleep since I used the wee hours of morning making the invitations for last minute guests since a few of the guests I invited couldn't make it, making Photo and music dvds, auditing receipts making sure I stuck with my budget and alike. Good thing I decided to hire a catering company so that I could concentrate on the program rather than slaving away in the kitchen.
Highlights of the Party
I only had 50 guests last night. I wanted the event to be intimate. My mom was surprised that I knew her close circle of friends. I made sure that the guests I invited were close friends of mama and or the family. Everyone belonged to a particular group. I specifically hate attending parties, wherein you'd feel conscious, uncomfortable or feel left out.
Surprises within the Party
Special Message: A few days before my dad left to work abroad, I recorded a short video message for my mom from my dad. It was just a stolen moment, while my mom was taking her usual night shower. Mamas' reaction was priceless, she kept laughing and looked "kilig" while papa professed his undying love for her.
PhotoDVD: I compiled different pictures of our beloved mom, from the time she was 8 (the oldest I could find) up to present. I really enjoyed making this project, it's as if I was unlocking my moms past seeing her grow up in front of me. The photodvd had two parts, the transition from past to present. The "past" was shown while playing "Beautiful Girl" by no other than the great Jose Marie Chan and the "present" was shown while playing "Mama" by the Spice Girls.
Special Song Numbers: A number of mamas' friends sang for her while others opted a toast or speech. For the first time I was able to sing in front of a crowd, other than my patient siblings and cousins during karaoke sessions. I sang "I Won't Last a Day Without You" by the Carpenters. At first, I wasn't able to sing the song since after the second stanza, tears already trickled down my face. My brother had two to three songs prepared, his our balladeer for the night.
Overall, I didn't expect that I could pull off a big party like this. Mama was so happy, and still shocked that I pulled a big one on her. The guests were so touched by the gesture we made. I thank God for inspiring and guiding through out this event. Most especially I thank him for making me realize how lucky I am that I have Mama for my mom. The event would be more successful if papa was here, but he is coming home soon and we are all excited to see him.
