Thoughts on Paper (blog)

Last Saturday, I was making embotido for our "Noche Buena" feast when my mom approached and gently stroked my hair. "Remember where we was last Christmas?" my mom softly spoke as she continued to gently touch my hair. I politely smiled as I mixed the ingredients together. If by any chance that you haven't read my entries December of last year, my mom was referring to my whirlwind sickness which eventually led to my MS-ICU confinement.

For some reason I didn't want myself to be reminded of what happened but I can't help it. Rather than avoiding the topic I opted to create this entry, face on I re-read the entries I've made last year. The first thought that came to me? "At that time I really thought that I was going to die" with all my strength I asked my mom if we could pray. After a year, obviously I didn't die but the ordeal left me with migraine attacks, heightened fear of heights, now and then memory lapses and the prescription glasses.

Almost Christmas and Tommy's passing

It's almost Christmas, I'm currently finishing our menu for tonight's "Noche Buena". My mom has been really busy lately since she volunteered at our Parish for the "Simbang Gabi committee" hence I decided to take control, organize and inject some "holiday cheers and spirit" into our home. I took the initiative or else nothing will happen this season. I cleaned, decorated the house, organized and cooked the items on the menu. Yes, I've been very busy and I really appreciate my Tita Mercy. She helped and supported my ideas. It's not that I am complaining but I'd really like to see my mom involved in the celebration. Considering that she has a career plus the extra activities that she has on her itinerary, she is always not at home. I miss the days when she still baked cakes and cooked us dinner. Well that was like ages ago, we dine together as a whole family whenever my dad is at home other than that its just me, my siblings and Tita Mercy. Anyways... moving on.

We all discussed that we would just have a simple celebration. The menu is not as extravagant as our previous Christmas since we just celebrated Lynna's birthday last Wednesday, December 22, and my little brother's "Japanese themed (it's more like Tempura party) birthday" last Thursday ,December 23. We didn't want to repeat the dishes that we had and just imagine their birthday cakes that are still in the fridge. Presents are already wrapped though I still have to buy a few more items. I'm really looking forward to my cousins coming over for Christmas. We usually play cards, boardgames and or have a karaoke night. I have already completed the 6 chips of my magic sing and its really going to be fun.

For some sad news, Our beloved Tommy left us last Wednesday. He is our 11 year old monggrel dog. It's really sad news and we miss him already. We reminisced over dinner and can't help but remember the things he used to do, especially this holiday season. Oh how he hated fireworks, he'd always beg that he be kept inside the house whenever there is a firework display. He is also afraid of thunder. The more that we comfort him , the louder his barks and cries were. In light of this event its unanimous that we have accepted his passing, he was really old and sickly. We are all just glad he became a part of our family. I can't help but imagine the time when Barry has to go. I don't know if I can take it lightly. Everyday I shower him with hugs and kisses. Wahhhh!!! Hey I shouldn't think about this "erase-erase".

Pussycat Dolls lead singer is proudly Pinay

I'd like to share this article regarding the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls.

She's lead vocalist of The Pussycat Dolls. And she's proud of her Filipino roots. Sultry, outspoken Nicole Scherzinger was born in Hawaii, but traces her roots to Batanes Islands.

In a recent interview with MYX in Bangkok, Nicole says she's a Lea Salonga fan and grew up listening to the music of the Tony award-winning performer. Nicole adds that although she has never been to the Philippines, she'd love to visit the country and "be around people that kinda look like me." Her pride in being Filipina stems from the fact that just like her family, Nicole thinks Filipinos have a lot of heart. In fact,
Nicole, has taken it upon herself to represent the Filipinos in the States, where she grew up. Aside from Nicole, other members of the song-and-dance group are Jessica Sutta, one-time captain of the Miami Heat dance troupe; Carmi Bachar, the La Vida Loca girl on Ricky Martin's world tour; Hollywood dancers Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt and; stunning singer Meloy Thornton.

The Pussycat Dolls have just released their debut album under MCA Music. Their album boasts of two chartbusters, the carrier track Don't Cha dominated the radio charts for months and the sophomore
outing Stick with U is also doing well.

12 Day Christmas Countdown and Some Technical Difficulties

After 29 days ... Finally I am back! This is so far the longest blogging hiatus I've had. Many factors contributed to my non-existent posts. Let me enumerate a couple of them: I just came from "somewhere" and I enjoyed my short trip. We changed our internet service provider from wireless broadband to DSL, Meridian to PLDT DSL. We were not satisfied with our wireless internet since the connection was really really slow during daytime, not gaming friendly (well that is according to my Ragnarok addict brother) and I was a frequent caller on their customer service hotline. Although I commend Meridian for having customer-friendly CSR assistants. We decided to apply for DSL instead. All in all it took us two weeks to process the DSL application as well as "the waiting period" for the PLDT technician to install the device. My brother also had to reformat and totally erase everything form the desktop computer because of a "Worm infection" from Jaypee's (my other brother) USB stick. Hehehe just really bad luck which eventually led to good luck at the same time.

Not being able to have a stable internet connection I decided to write and document my "blog entries for the day" in MSWord, just for now until I can post in blogger. So don't be surprised if a couple of posts pop-up from no-where.

I already started my year-end cleaning this will keep me busy for a couple of days. The countdown starts --12 days till Christmas. My mom just recently had the Christmas party in one of her "prayer groups" and they liked my "Pancit Molo". My now famous "Pancit Molo" was requested at our local parish as one of the "Simbang Gabi merienda" which would be sold during the 9 nine days of simbang gabi. I smell a "business opportunity". Pancit Molo is a signature dish of Illonggos', it's usually ground pork wrapped in wanton cooked in broth. This was the first dish that I learned to cook at the age of 10.

I often wondered how the song "Twelve Days of Christmas" could be applied. Would the Phrase "On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me a partridge in a pear tree." apply this 13th of December or would it apply to the 25th of the said month. I wonder... What do you think? Can anybody enlighten me about this?

Nene: The First Pinoy Big Brother Winner

Milyun-milyong pasasalamat sa inyong lahat! Tagumpay natin to! - Nene Tamayo

I am really happy that Nene won, She received 554,906 votes or 48.9% of the total votes . Jason came in second with 312,258 votes, 27.5%. Cass became the third placer with 214,188 votes, 18.9%, while Uma landed in the last spot with 52,833 votes , 4.7%. Nene emerging as the winner made up for tmediocrecer "Big Night" that ABS-CBN claims to be this year’s biggest show on Philippine TV. The concept and the ideas were there but it lacked execution. To start with I think it was a big mistake that Willie opened the night with a lypsynch blunder. He totally ruined "the mood". The show was dragging that my sister fell asleep watching it. The Big night turned into a "variety show" as "Panday" and other ABS CBN talents lypsynch away on stage. They should have concetrated on the "ex housemates", let them shine.

And when you think that it couldn't get any better, wait till Wiannouncednced the winner!

WILLIE: Nene, the FIRST PINOY BIG BROTHER!!!

What the hell??? Wiillie naman talaga oh. According to ABS-CBN's forum audition for the next PBB season is already on going. Well we all just hope that they don't get Willie as the next seasons host.
